Tonight I have another vintage Hard Candy! It's called XXXMAS and it's from the 1996 Christmas collection. This collection is one of the most elusive and hard to find in the nail polish world, and I was lucky enough to snag 2 of them on eBay recently. This one was a gift from one of my best friends, Melissa. I love her dearly and I love this polish!

XXX is a deep purple jelly with small holographic glitters scattered throughout. It's super shiny and really, really amazing. I don't see a lot of polishes like this anymore. It really is a unique color and style in my collection and I adore it!

I used 3 coats for full opacity (it's a bit sheer because it's a jelly, but it does build up nicely) and used Gelous as a top coat.

Colors by Llarowe: Blonde Ambition & Mojito!

Today I have some Colors by Llarowe polishes to show you! I really love and swear by CBL's. They're some of the best holos I've ever used and I've been a big fan from the beginning. I love the formula...they're creamy but not thick and they don't have that awful foil formula (think Layla or GOSH) that chips so easily. I have about 60 CBL's..most of them are holos..and I can't wait to share them all with you!

First up is Mojito, which is a minty green linear holo. Lighter colors tend to not be super holo because the holo gets lost in the super light colors. That's why there aren't many true neon holos that are both intensely neon and holo at the same time. Neon yellow and orange linear holos that are both insanely neon & insanely holo are almost impossible to come by. I think Leah Ann does a very good job balancing the amount of holo pigment with this particular color green. You can see in photos 2 & 4 (which are a tiny bit blurry on purpose to capture the true holo) how holo the polish is.

Below is 2 coats of Mojito in artificial light. No top coat.

Next up is Blonde Ambition! I took a gamble with this polish because I'm usually really not into colors like this. Nudes, beige, champagne and browns aren't my style at all. But I wanted to try something different and so I purchased Blonde Ambition. BA is a champagne/nude strong linear holo. The holo in this is much stronger and more prominent than in Mojito. I was pleasantly surprised by this. I really thought I'd hate it because colors like this don't suit me. But I ended up enjoying it and wearing it for a few days.

Below is 2 coats of Blonde Ambition in artificial light. No top coat.

You can find Colors by Llarowe polishes on Llarowe.com. Holos are $12 each. Blonde Ambition is in stock, Mojito is not. What I love about Llarowe is that Leah Ann has pre-orders and I think they're incredibly helpful and such a good idea. Plus there's a 30 minute cart hold, which is also a big plus in my book. I've never once had an issue ordering from Llarowe and have been doing so for 2.5 years now.

Hard Candy: Gangsta Booty!

Today I have a vintage Hard Candy circa 1996-1997! It's called Gangsta Booty and it's AMAZING.

Hard Candy was founded in 1995 by two sisters. They're first ever venture into cosmetics was their signature color, Sky, a pastel blue shimmery nail polish. Alicia Silverstone put HC on the map when she wore the color in Clueless, then promoted it on David Letterman. After that, HC blew up and was sold at boutiques and Nordstrom. Known for their edgy colors that were still feminine, HC was incredibly popular in the late 90's. I owned a lot of HC products back then, from their eyeshadow quartets (I still love Techno) to their nail polish with the rubber rings. HC was one of the very first "indie" makeup brands. Along with Urban Decay, they were the only cosmetic brand around that time that pushed the boundaries and came out with colors other brands would never even dream of. All the indie makeup & nail polish brands today should credit Urban Decay and Hard Candy because without them, the indie market wouldn't exist as it is right now.

Unfortunately HC and UD aren't the brands they once were. They've each been sold a few times over and now big chain corporations own them. Hard Candy fell off the map and in 2009 resurfaced, now owned by Falic Fashion group (sold to by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy who had owned HC since 1999) who started a new line exclusively with Walmart. The iconic Sky is still available, obviously reformulated, with a bunch of new products. The new Hard Candy bottle is a cylinder and honestly I'm not crazy about them. Nothing can compare to the original line. I've been collecting vintage (first generation) HC and UD since I started collecting polish in 2010. I have a few of the original colors but they're not easy to find. I never thought I'd be able to own Gangsta Booty and yet here I am posting about it!

Gangsta Booty is a gold micro glitter in a clear base. There are millions of tiny gold metallic glitters, and it's so shiny and sparkly. The ring is a gold, sparkly flower. Gangsta Booty is no longer available, and I found mine on eBay along with a few of the super elusive 1996 Christmas colors. I hope you enjoy these vintage posts, because I absolutely love showing off my old polishes!

All photos are taken indoors with artificial light (lightbox) and I didn't use a top coat with this color. I used 3 coats of Gangsta Booty
by itself for full opacity.

Lynnderella: Oh Mickey! You're So Fine!

Today I have Lynnderella in Oh Mickey! You're So Fine! Oh Mickey was released last summer, only a few of them were sold, so it's pretty rare and retired.

Oh Mickey has a clear base with holo scattered micro glitter. It has pale pink, purple, blue and silver circle glitters in varying sizes, tiny silver stars, blue and pink big stars and silver holo Mickey Mouse heads.

I layered 2 coats of Oh Mickey over Manglaze in Cabron and used Lynnderella's Glitter Tamer as a top coat.  I really love how this came out, I think this color is really cool and I'm ok with the fact that it's a little girly, even if I'm not. ;)

Lynnderella: Silvery Sweeties!

This is Lynnderella in Silvery Sweeties! I love this color, it's super unique.

Silvery has white and silver glitters with smaller silver holo glitters. It has yellow, pink, blue, orange, green and red accents that have a matte/satin finish. Some of the accents are stars, circles and triangles!

You can get silvery opaque in 3 coats, but most people layer it. The glitters are a bit big for a micro glitter, but it does still work alone and I think it looks fantastic by itself.

I used silvery alone, it was opaque in 3 coats. I used Lynnderella's Glitter Tamer as a top coat.

The photos are all in direct sunlight, except the first which was taken in my lightbox.

Urban Decay: Mildew!

Today I have a vintage Urban Decay from the original line that came out in 1997. It's called Mildew and it's an olive green color.

I started collecting UD and Hard Candy makeup when I was 14. I owned the entire UD line back then, and a lot of HC stuff. Unfortunately most of it's long gone. I was fortunate enough to find 6 of the original UD polishes by a very kind & generous girl on Facebook. She sold me Mildew, Scream, Live Wire, Gash, Spare Change and Fender Bender. Scream is a black creme, Live Wire is a gray/green/purple multichrome, Gash is a deep red, Spare Change is an off white shimmer/glitter and Fender Bender is a light blue with shimmer. Unfortunately Scream and Spare Change are pretty unsalvageable, but I did get the others to work pretty well and will be showing them all here soon! I also just got my hands on a few very old HC's from the original 1996 Christmas collection - some of the hardest to find HC's ever. I can't wait to show those here as well. This polish is very old and far from perfect looking, hell I was lucky enough to get it to work! I tried my hardest, but it's never going to look as good as newer colors. Please don't mind the fact that it doesn't look absolutely amazing.

I used 2 coats of Mildew alone with no top coat. It took A LOT of thinner to get it to work, but it works well now. I hope everyone enjoys these vintage polishes as much as I do, I know it's very nostalgic for a lot of girls!

Tonight I have one of my favorite Lynnderella's to show you, Thrill Ride!

Thrill Ride is a deep violet/blue micro glitter. No accent glitters, and it's opaque in 2 coats. This polish is so holo and vibrant, it's unbelievable.

Thrill Ride is a special edition and is no longer available. Photos are in artificial light and I used Christian Dior's Gel Top Coat.

Lynnderella: One Hot Summer Night...

Today I have Lynnderella in One Hot Summer Night!

OHSN is a super dark purple almost black micro glitter with multicolored accents. It's super holo and is just amazing.

You can see OHSN is numbered. It's a special edition and is no longer available.

The photos are in the sun, in artificial lighting, in the shade outdoors and indoors. I wanted to show you how different polishes can look in different lights. Of course the direct sunlight photos represent the true colors in the polish.

I used 2 coats of One Hot Summer Night with Christian Dior's Gel Top Coat.

Lynnderella: Wherefore Art Blue?

I have another Lynnderella micro glitter today! It's called Wherefore Art Blue? and it was a wonderful birthday gift from my very good friend Genevieve!

Wherefore Art Blue is a royal blue micro glitter with some purple and periwinkle shimmer thrown in. It also has blue & lighter blue accents like circles, small hexes & stars. I absolutely love this color, blue is my favorite color and I think the purple thrown in really makes it stunning and sets it apart from other blue micro glitters out there.

I used 2 coats of Wherefore Art Blue and Christian Dior's Gel topcoat.

You can find Wherefore Art Blue at lynnderella.com - Lynnderella's ebay store. It's a limited edition, auction only color.

Photo 2 is direct sunlight

Photo 3 is artificial light

Lynnderella: Yes to Know Love!

Today I have another Lynnderella micro glitter called Yes to Know Love!

YTKL is a periwinkle (but just a teeeeny bit darker) micro glitter with a subtle pink shimmer and is super holo. This one doesn't have accents in it like circles or diamonds, it's just a straight micro glitter that's opaque in 2 full coats.

I used 2 coats in the photos with Lynnderella's Glitter Tamer for my topcoat.

My favorite nail polishes are Lynn's micro glitters. They're just so holo and amazing. YTKL is a limited edition, auction only color that you can find in the Lynnderella ebay store - lynnderella.com!

Lynnderella: Paleo Muffin!

This is my very first post and for my first post I'll be showing off Lynnderella in Paleo Muffin!

Paleo Muffin is a nude/beige micro glitter with pink shimmer and has multicolored accents.

I prefer to wear Lynn's micro glitters alone and you can get them opaque in 2-3 coats - Paleo is opaque in 2. I know a lot of girls like to conserve the polish and use undies, I choose not to use them as I think the micro glitters look better alone.

Here's some shots of Paleo Muffin. I used 3 coats and Lynnderella Glitter Tamer as a top coat.

You can find Lynnderella lacquers on eBay - Lynnderella.com - Paleo Muffin is a limited edition polish - LE Lynn's are auction only on eBay. You can also check out Lynnderella on Storenvy - lynnderella.storenvy.com!
